by The Maca Team on December 3, 2009

The major health benefits of including raw organic maca powder in your diet regularly are the following:

  1. A significant increase in energy, endurance and stamina.  This makes maca great for athletes and active people in general.
  2. Maca increases  muscular strength.  Historically, Incan warriors used  the root regularly to boost  their strength and prowess inmaca benefits battle. In essence, it acts like an anabolic muscle enhancer.
  3. Peruvian Maca both  increases libido as and acts as an aphrodisiac. As a result, both fertility and sexual desire are improved after consuming this organic super food Maca.
  4. Peruvian Maca helps the body to regulate hormonal processes. It can be used to treat hormonal dysfunctions caused by menopause in women and andropause in men.
  5. Maca root works as an excellent memory enhancer.   Scientific studies shows that it increases the neural activity in the brain.
  6. Peruvian Maca helps increase  blood circulation in your body. Any condition of anemia is reduced and any wounds in your body heal faster after consuming Maca regularly. Also due to improved circulation, your skin gets a glowing healthy look.
  7. As an adaptogen,  maca helps to regulate and stabilize the various systems in your body such as the lymph system, the circulatory system, the hormonal system, the musculature system etc.   Maca goes wherever your body needs the most help.
  8. Bonus:  because of it’s ability to stabilize hormones, maca is can also support emotional healing.   People have reported success in using maca to get rid of long standing emotional issues such as anger, depression and powerlessness.  In our experience, used in conjunction with craniosacral therapy maca can be especially powerful.

One final note:  Something we love to do is combine a high quality herbal detox with maca.  Once your intestines are cleaner and your digestion is working easier, the effects and benefits of maca are even greater. That’s certainly our experience and that of many of our clients as well.

Enjoy the day!

Hi Hajah,

Yes, can help a lot with Menopause symptoms. We particularly recommend our Red Maca for that. About growing a larger buttocks, Maca can help as well. One of the things it helps build is muscle. Natural bodybuilders love taking Maca as an alternative to steroids. The buttocks is our largest muscle and responds well to exercise along with Maca. People do report getting bigger while taking maca, but they are always combining it with some kind of exercise directed to that region of the body.

Does Maca help with Ovarian Cyst at all? I have been taking 2 tablets per day, and have now been told after ultra sound an ovarian cyst is present and doctor wants me to take over the counter pills…. Will Maca help more if I increase my dose? The bottle says I can take 2 tablets 1-2 times a day, I only take 2 tabs once a day….

Thanks for the question. With cysts that have their root in an hormonal imbalance, Maca can be helpful. We can’t speak to the dosage of Maca since we’re not sure which or whose Maca you have. That said, we’d recommend trying a greater dosage as per the instructions you have. For people taking our Red Maca we recommend up to 3 teaspoons a day. Hope that helps.
