Thanks for all the great info. I recently bought gelatinized Maca from someone else . I thought it sounded best but now I think I was wrong! By march 2 of 2011 I bought a bottle of maca 1000 mg mfg by 21st century health care inc. Later on and after opening I paid attention about the expiration date was may 2011. How safe is contininuing use this product for one until july 2011.

I can’t speak specifically to the product you ordered as I don’t know the company.
What I can say is this. Our Maca has a shelf life of about 2 years as long as it’s been kept out of light and in dry conditions. While it is possible to continue taking Maca after the expiration, the potency is much less than with fresh maca. For that reason we recommend that our customers consume their Maca before the expiration date for maximum health benefit.

can you alternate black and red maca weekly or monthly?
Absolutely. It’s a great way to go. Soon we will be offering a Premium Maca mix that contains Red, Black, Yellow and Cream. Until then keep alternating. By the way, we will be getting Black Maca in by February.
