So, you’re looking at purchasing some Peruvian Maca to boost your health? First thing we want to do is say congratulations. We’ve been taking Maca for the past 8 years and it has boosted our energy levels more than we could imagine. During that time, we’ve tried quite a few different brands of Maca products. It turns out that not all of them are the same at all. We put this little Maca review guide together to help you when considering what kind of Maca supplement to buy. We hope it helps.
MACA BUYING TIP 1:
Stay with the simple maca powders – unless you want to pay a lot extra. Here’s the thing about Maca – it’s pretty cheap to produce. We know that simple raw powder is abundant and very reasonable to buy. But because of it’s potency, many companies try to add “value” to maca by putting it in capsules or giving it a special name like “magical maca” or whatever. With these kinds of maca products, We’ve seen mark ups as high as 300%. It’s simply a lot easier to just buy the pure powder.
MACA BUYING TIP 2:
Bulk is best. We recommend purchasing maca a few kilograms at a time. There’s good reason for this.
First, you do save some money. And second, because you have a lot of maca, you will use it consistently. If you want to improve your health with maca it is important to take big enough quantities consistently. The recommended dosage is usually around 1-3 teaspoons per day. Taking that much in capsule form is actually kind of hard to do not to mention more expensive. Maca made it that long because I always end up using it within a couple of months.
MACA BUYING TIP 3:
The best place to buy maca is absolutely not your health food shop. It may be more convenient for you, but be prepared to pay up to $118 per kg! We’re not sure why that is, but unfortunately that’s the reality. The good news is that excellent quality maca is easily available online for good prices. Most places deliver within a few days. If you live in a small town, you may have no choice but to buy maca online, since it’s rare for small health food shops to stock it.

Hi Ernie,
Thanks for you question. Really glad that you are enjoying Maca.
We love the Red Maca for various reasons – more potent and tastes better. You can read all about it here:

Our standard Maca is also very good and a LOT less expensive that most health food stores.
Both of them are Certified Organic and Fair Trade.
Let me know if I can do anything else to help.

I am wanting to know which is the best maca to buy? I purchase the USDA ORGANIC MACA RAW MACA FROM WHOLEFOODS. Can i get maximum results for this type of USDA ORGANIC MACA?
Hi Lashell, We’re not sure of the quality of the Maca at Wholefoods. We’ve never tried it. Overall we’ve found some things there to be very good and others to be just average.
That said, in our opinion the most powerful Maca around for pretty much every therapeutic use is Our Certified Organic Red Maca Powder. We’ve written a complete article on what makes Red Maca different and why more and more people are turning toward it. You can read the Red Maca article here. Hope that helps!
Enjoy the day!
Ia the red Maca you offer for sale non GMO?
HI Judith,
Thanks for your question. Yes, absolutely all of our Maca products are non-GMO and certified organic. Plus they are fair trade and grown with respect for nature.
You might also be interested to know that Peru is among a few countries that have banned all GMO for the next 10 years. Here’s the article regarding that.

I have been trying to conceive for over a year, and found online that Maca is supposed to help with fertility, and balancing out hormones. How much of a dosage do i need, and for how long before i can start seeing results/conceiving?
Hi Darbie,
Thanks for your questions.
Yes, one of the major uses, both traditional and contemporary, of Maca is to boost fertility. Ideally it should be used by both partners as Maca also stimulates the production of semen. In general terms you and your partner should be taking between 1 and 3 teaspoons daily. We have a more complete dosage guide on our website here:
Most people feel the energy boosting effects of Maca within about 2 weeks of starting to take it. In terms of conception, people report taking it for a couple of months or more. It really depends on the person, though. For some it has been less.
There are a lot of factors involved in fertility and we’ve personally helped point many clients in the right direction of getting natural help. Another resource besides Maca is the most comprehensive natural fertility book we’ve ever seen. It’s helped several of our clients and also two of our close friends have a baby. It’s from a woman who finally conceived her first child while in her 40s (after she had tried everything else). It’s got tons of helpful information. It’s also really cool that the author offers a complete money back guarantee for 60 days. Anyway, thought you might like to know about it. The link is here:

Also, in taking Maca, I recommend the Red Maca as it’s a bit higher in all the major nutrients.
Hope that helps!
Wish you all the best in your efforts and if there is anything else we can do to help, just let us know.

Hi,
A lady at the woholedoods, giving out free sample of Maca capsules. The company she works for is Femennence. She have 3 different kinds of Maca capsules. I told her i need something for my anxiety. So she gave me the samples according to me needs. instead of for menapausal. She also have ones for men. In your opinion, which one or color of Maca should i use? And how do i use it?
Without knowing your exact situation, we would lean toward recommending Red Maca to you. There’s a lot of research to support that it is overall the most potent variety of Maca available. Please read our article on Red Maca linked here. We also have plenty of info on Maca Dosage, Maca Recipes and more.
I have a 15 year old daughter is it safe for her to use.she has been dignose with PSOS.Would this help her hormonal inbalance.
1. Yes, Maca is fine for adolescents to take. In small doses even children are fine with Maca. Just make sure your daughter starts with a small dose (no more than 1 teaspoon) per day and goes up from there. You can read our dosage guidelines here:
http://www.raworganicmaca.info/maca-dosage/
2. Maca is great for balancing hormones and has helped people of all ages and both genders with hormone imbalances. We’re not doctors and can’t give any medical advice and we expect that it would do the same for your daughter.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
I have no sexual drive – will maca help?
Thank you for your question Joanne.
Maca is one of the best foods on the planet for helping the body to balance hormones. A healthy sex drive is a product of a healthy endocrine system. So, in a word, yes Maca can and does boost libido for thousands of people everyday. A hormonal imbalance may not be the only factor in low sex drive, but is a common one. In your case, I’d get 1 KG of our Red Maca and take it all (it will last about 2.5-3 months at 3 teaspoons a day). I think there’s a really good shot that you are feeling more energetic in general as well as experience increased libido.
Hope that helps!
Anything else we can do, please let us know.
P.S. Here’s our Red Maca

Thanks,
Will it help with hair loss associated with menopause.?
HI Kathi,
Thanks for your question. Often hair loss is indeed a result of an imbalanced endocrine system. Because one of the things Maca does best is to balance the hormones it can indeed help with hair loss during menopause.
Hope that helps. Anything else we can do, please let us know.
Enjoy your day!
I heard maca will give you a “bigger bottom” and more curves , if you exercise overtime, is that true? If so what should i take, the dosage and when should i see improvements? Also with the sex drive and overall better health? Jus need more info so i know what i should take.
Thank you
About getting a bigger buttocks, Maca in and of itself can help build muscle – that’s why natural body builders love it – but you need to put in some work in the gym or with another activity to get the results. Maca is great for boosting libido as well. The exact dosage depends on your lifestyle, weight, etc. You can read about our Maca Dosage guidelines for more detaisl. Red Maca is the most potent in most phytonutrient categories, so we’d recommend starting with that.
